LIFE2M aims to enhance sustainable micromobility through innovative battery technology, awareness campaigns, and sustainable business models in urban areas.

Introduction
LIFE2M intends to:
- Promote micromobility as the most efficient urban and peri-urban mobility system in terms of emissions, energy consumption, and materials. This involves overcoming the main problems currently limiting its diffusion and making it more economically advantageous for both private users and operators of sharing services.
- Make micromobility more sustainable by eliminating the need to recycle lithium batteries and extending the life of microvehicles. This will decrease the consumption of resources, energy, and generation of waste, particularly by limiting the employment of raw materials and recycling (revamping and reuse of microvehicles and reducing the need for battery recycling).
Specific Objectives
These goals are achieved through three specific objectives and related groups of actions:
A. Development and Demonstration
Development and demonstration will occur through three demos in three different cities, focusing on innovative technological elements and components, particularly innovative accumulators based on hybrid supercapacitor technology. The planned actions are:
- Implementation of a retrofit service for private and sharing microvehicles to replace classic batteries with the developed innovative accumulators.
- Introduction of innovative microvehicles powered by the innovative accumulators. The vehicles will be implemented in fleets of shared vehicles and/or given free of charge to private individuals.
- Installation of fast-charging stations for the microvehicle innovative accumulators.
B. Communication Tools and Campaigns
Development of communication tools and campaigns that raise awareness of the importance and usefulness of micromobility. These efforts will support its spreading by acting on:
- User behavior
- Road safety aspects
- Environmental impacts
C. Business Models and Strategies
Development of business models, strategies, and best practices for the sustainability of the micromobility market in its various forms (private vehicles, sharing, and transport of goods). This aims to ensure the continuation of the demos beyond the end of the project in the three demo cities.
