The project aims to optimize the Escapos system for climate adaptation in Florence, integrating monitoring tools and public-private collaboration to enhance urban resilience and environmental quality.

Introduction
The Project is aimed at optimizing and testing a new approach both for climate adaptation planning and for monitoring the results of the implemented Municipality's policies and interventions.
Integrated Operational Tool
The integrated operational tool that will be optimized and tested in a pilot area of the Municipality of Florence (Firenze Nova) is the Escapos system. This system is intended to be integrated into the Smart City Control Room of the City, which is currently under completion.
Functionality of Escapos
Escapos allows for analyzing, studying, balancing, and optimizing the energy flows of any urban system in the perspective of resilient climate mitigation and adaptation.
Monitoring Activities
Continuous ante/post-operam monitoring will therefore be carried out in the area. The parameters monitored will include:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Air quality
- Wind speed and direction
- Illuminance
This monitoring will also be performed with wearable monitoring systems that will be optimized as a product of the project. The aim is to dynamically populate the data database and verify the effectiveness of a series of interventions with an impact on the overall situation of the area.
Climate Mitigation Interventions
The climate mitigation interventions that will be implemented are linked to what is already envisaged by the Florence Municipality's Green Plan, attracting a series of public investments to the area.
Involvement of Private Subjects
In addition to the interventions carried out by the public body, an added value is the involvement in the project of private subjects (companies) based in the area. This collaboration aims to carry out further environmental improvement interventions, such as:
- Green roofs
- Painting with polymers to reduce heat absorption
- Other initiatives to enhance environmental quality
The goal is to start a virtuous system of public/private collaboration for the management of the territory.
Communication and Community Involvement
A point of strength of the project will be the intense communication activity directed towards the population and its direct involvement.
