Using the power of the law in Germany to create a healthy planet where nature and all people can thrive together
ClientEarth Germany's project aims to enhance environmental law enforcement and organizational development to drive systemic change in energy and agriculture by 2026.
Projectdetails
Introduction
This Operating Grant application sets out ClientEarth Germany's action plan for 2025 and 2026, with a focus on Organisational Development and two main programmatic areas: the Energy System, and the Food, Oceans and Land Use System (FOLU) - with a focus on agriculture.
Legal Framework for Climate Action
We believe the law is the most effective lever for climate and environmental action. Through this project, ClientEarth Germany will continue to deliver strategic interventions, including:
- Providing input to new legislation
- Implementing existing laws in court proceedings
These efforts aim to bring about systemic change in Germany, Europe, and beyond. This project will aim to ensure better implementation and enforcement of EU environmental law, particularly in the fields of:
- The clean energy transition
- Climate change
- Agriculture
Additionally, it will act as an important conduit between civil society groups and the EU.
Organisational Development
ClientEarth Germany is filling a gap in the national and EU legal landscape and is an established and influential voice in the use of law to protect the environment, with a unique breadth and depth of experience.
We are now at a critical juncture in our organisational development. Through this project, we seek to strengthen and consolidate our role and presence in the environmental law field, in order to maximize impact in our programmatic areas and drive systems change nationally and at the European level.
