Services supporting suppliers and retailers regarding compliance with ecodesign and labelling legislation
The project aims to enhance compliance with EU eco-design and labeling legislation through training and support tools for suppliers, retailers, and installers, targeting significant energy savings by 2030.
Projectdetails
EU eco-design and labelling legislation provides efficiency standards for more than 30 products in the EU market and guidance for buyers.
Introduction
According to the EC, the EU legislation for energy labels and ecodesign has been estimated to bring energy savings of approximately 230 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) by 2030 and is thus an essential element for reaching the EU's energy saving goals.
Compliance Challenges
However, according to the EC, for some market segments, non-compliance levels of up to 70% have been reported for product information, which causes a reduction of the expected energy savings.
Project Objectives
In order to support the legislation targets and the compliance of the market with the legislation, the project will implement supportive measures for the key market actors:
- Suppliers
- Retailers
- Installers
These measures aim to raise awareness and facilitate correct interpretation and application in practice, as well as effective use of the EPREL database.
Tools and Resources
The comprehensive set of tools designed and disseminated for this purpose will cover guidance and training tools, including:
- Guidelines
- FAQs
- Webinars
- E-learning
- New communication and discussion formats for the target groups
Furthermore, a helpdesk service will be implemented to support clarification issues of stakeholders in collaboration with the EC.
Dissemination and Support
All dissemination and implementation for the target groups will be effectively supported by international and national supplier, retailer, and installer associations involved either as consortium members or as associated partners of the consortium.
Focus Areas
Based on the timeframe and budget of the project, the focus of the work will be on key technologies of the current ecodesign and labelling working plan of the EC, including:
- Heating
- PV
- Air-conditioning technologies
- Selected white goods
The project should therefore be seen as a pilot for setting up tools and services that shall be extended to additional product groups of the EU legislation in the future.
